week comes to an end

well the week didn't work out as planned. my ATV trip was cancelled to a youth basketball game(we won). the steelhead trip was cancelled to to a winter storm that blew in, i never had to cancel a trip but 0 degree, 30 mile winds and snow in the mix make a crappy day on a drift boat. so i went to Pocono's wed-Friday doe hunting with smoke pole. i didn't see a deer the whole time,nothing! it was quite cold Thursday with high of 15 degree and walking in woods was loud. i helped my friend Greg set a few traps along a creek bed. i was hoping to have some pics to share but i can take some shots of me putting my hunting gear away for the year. there are 2 more weeks of flintlock season left but it looks like basketball has taken my Saturdays now for a while.

extended season doe

monday i had to cancel atv riding withe crew and stay for basketball game in afternoon, that opened up a morning hunt! i hit my local spot with crossbow(i use that over my compound due to so much winter clothes) sitting in a ground blind. it was a bit breezy for me. i never do well in the wind, i never see deer. sure enough i seen a doe 100 yards away feeding in the thickets for a short time, nothing else. i made it a a early day and took down my ground blind for the season. now its smokepole time up the mountains!

east branch perk

i was going to hit the LL for some early morning trout but felt cold and didnt have much time to spend on the water. so i decided to hit the east branch perk (since its down the street from my house) , i tied a few flys up and tested them out. i caught a nice bow on the scud, didnt give much fight.

holiday break

My week is starting off with an ATV ride in Shamokin with my pennridge ATV crew, should be a blast. I don’t get to ride much these days with youth sports and all. Tuesday I pack for fishing and hunting. 1st in my stop is Pulaski, NY for my winter thrill of steelhead fishing on the fly. I hired a drift boat guide so I can get the most out of my short time there. I’m jacked for some chrome! Head south to Pocono’s late Wednesday to a friends house (Charlie’s place) to do some late season doe using the smoke poles. Looking forward in getting a deer with flintlock, I never got a deer yet with one. Picked up a TC firestorm 2 years ago but opportunity never showed itself. This may be my lucky year.
